My typography

own typeOnce I had looked into the type produced by those around me I began to hand write words in different styles myself. When writing fast and carelessly, the outcome is very different compared to when you take your time and put care into each individual word you write out. So I would write out some very carefully, some very carelessly and some that were in between. Above are just two examples of the styles in which I created using my own handwriting.

This is where I began to design my own typography. I started off by using my own handwriting to write out words, I also asked friends and family to write out some words so that I could compare the way in which we all write. We could all be writing about exactly the same thing, or feeling neutral about whatever it is we are writing about and in almost all cases these things do not affect the way our own handwriting looks. So I asked everyone to write the word watch, just as they would write anything. Everyone was completely indifferent to the way they wrote the word but that did not mean that their handwriting was the same. That is what fascinated me most throughout my research, the way that type is so often used for a purpose, however in most cases of handwritten type it is merely just down to our own unique style. After looking at each style I decided to write them out using the method I used before and the one above was the one that I found to be quite interesting and certainly a unique style of type.
